Stylist of the Month - Jenifer Haupt
by ArrvadaFashion design has always been Jenifer Haupt's obsession. From high school she entered the fashion industry on the retail side and quickly found that her passion was in the creation of art and fashion and not simply the distribution. Over eight years ago she channeled her love for design and retail savvy into a successful jewelry design business.
Her handcrafted pieces of jewelry are made with genuine Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. Each one is unique, rarely duplicated and Jenifer made a very successful name for herself. Jenifer has also expanded her jewelry business which now includes one of a kind hair accessories and wedding hair pieces. All available at Image Provocateur.
However, never one to stay sedentary Jenifer sought to achieve her license as a cosmetologist to further broaden her creative outlets. Her keen eye for glamour and style has made her one of the top nail art designers in the area. Her signature stiletto nails, all the rage now in Europe, and her Rock Star toes, set her apart from any other nail technician.
In 2007 she became a key member of the Image Provocateur & VIP-CAT Cosmetics team, becoming one of our top Makeup Artists and bringing to Image Provocateur all her extensive talents.
Jenifer became a teacher of VIP-CAT Academy in 2009 she also is one of our lead makeup artists at Image Provocateur bringing her extensive talents to her brides and clients. Jenifer is an amazing artist, bringing the beauty out of every bride.
She is a talented and beautiful addition to the Image Provocateur Team.

Hair & Makeup by VIP-CAT Makeup Academy

FAB Shows is a result of founder Jessica Stout's passion for animal rescue and advocacy, and her love of all things fashion. A self-proclaimed clothing hoarder that is on the verge of being an animal hoarder (we kid), Jessica decided to bring her two loves together to see what would come of it.
What came was something awesome that caught-on like wildfire. After the success of her first show, Pits and Fash, the "FAB Show" name was created and the rest will go down in history.

Proceeds Raised From this Event Were Donated to the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary to help build Bigger and Better Exhibits for the Animals they house.
The Sacramento Examiner covered this wonderful event in am article and slide show!:

Dana Schleth: Photographer
by Arrvada"Photography is a means of recording forever the things one sees for a moment." Aaron Sussman
"I've always been addicted to fact. In college, I thought this addiction would lead me to a career in Business finance or economics. Well, three associate degrees and an internship proved otherwise; I loathed the confines of a desk, a computer, and paper walls. So, less than a year from graduation I decided to take a well-deserved soul-searching road trip from LA to Florida. I started off driving 85 mph but a speeding ticket forced me to slow down and look, not just to look, but to really see. I realized there was an entire world around me. A world I had never seen,
I was so small and it had so much to teach me. Fortunately, I packed the old canon camera my grandmother had given me and three lenses that I had hardly used before. I was a little less than half way when I realized I had become fused, with the old camera from my sock drawer. "
When she returned from Florida Dana felt driven to search a path into
photography and within three months she was attending Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. She found her dream, her passion in a lens. During her time at Brooks she became involved with several photography studios and studied under many well known photographers such as Chuck Place, Bill Robbins and Greg Voight. She also did commercial work for Santa Barbara County's First Five program and several local small businesses. She graduated with honors from Brooks in Southern California with a B.A. in Digital Imaging.
In 2008 Dana was recognized by the International Society of Photographers for some of her work. The image honored is now featured in an anthology titled Endless Journeys.
Dana is a truly talented artist, bringing her keen eye and love of beauty into any realm. From commerical to bridal from boudoir to high fashion she can capture the beauty life through the eye of her lens.
Image Provocateur is now Dana's home. Call us now for your own session with Dana and let her capture your beauty.

Weddings....Dreams made Real
Weddings are hopeful. They are the day that we have gambled all our hopes and dreams on since childhood. As little girls we played dress up, envisioning the day we would be walking down the aisle to pledge our life to the man we love. We dreamt of weddings bells in the midst of our first crush, watched Cinderella one too many times and dreamed of one day finding our very own prince charming. Weddings are the day before Happily Ever After, and it is the day that leads us there. Weddings aren’t just about the confetti, about the I do’s, the cake, the venue, they are about the combination, the compilation of everything all together to make that one perfect moment for that one perfect day. We envision birds singing and the sun shining down on us with gentle heat while we are resplendent in a gown of snow white, a princess from a story book for that one moment. We envision joy, we envision our hearts bursting with love when we are finally able to say I do. All that is possible, the memories will be cherished, but there are so many plans to be made. Your venue, your gown, your photographer, your caterer…. So many things, its seems they rush upon you. And what of yourself, the bride? You are the center piece, this is your day. This day should be your joy, the day you’ve always wanted and you should look and feel the
way you have always dreamed. The trappings are all around you, you’ve thought of it all, now it’s your turn. You’ve found the gown that you’ve always wanted, a vision in white, you’ve found the veil, you’ve even found the shoes. You have a crowd of your loved ones around you, it is the day of your wedding. You’ve only a few hours left before you will make that inevitable walk down the aisle with your family pressed in on all sides. Have you remembered everything? We will. Image Provocateur will be there with you. We will add a shimmer, a blush to your lips and cheeks, contour and depth to your eyes, so that you will shine out from among the rest of the bridal party. The camera will only see you. You’re hair will be done, your veil placed. Our staff of highly trained and uniquely skilled makeup artists and hair designers will create the look you want and achieve it for you. We will come to your location on your wedding day and create a timeless look for you. You and your bridesmaids can sit back, relax and have fun on this wonderful day. We will worry about the timing and scheduling, so that you don’t have to. Watch yourself transform into your dream, this is your day and it will be perfect.
Let Image Provocateur’s On Location Professional Makeup Artists and Hair Specialists ease your mind. You have worried about everything else…Leave your makeup and hair to us.

Featured Artist - Angel Rotar
by ArrvadaWe met Angel a little over a year ago when we were asked to do the makeup for a bridal photoshoot. All of us were impressed by this young woman's poise, presence and professionalism. A few months later we worked with Angel again for the Hair Wars competition at the Park Ultra Lounge. It was at that time we began to see how good Angel actually was. She coached and coordinated the models, using her experince and skill to help them achieve a level of professionalism mosty amateur models could never achieve. Now we are pleased to say that Angel has made VIP-CAT Academy her new home, bringing all of her knowledge and skill to our students and helping them achieve the ultimate goal of model. To get signed with professional agents and make the runway their home.
Angel fell in love with modeling over three years ago when she participated in her first photoshoot. From then on it developed from a hobby into a passion and Angel has dedicated her life to it. She began with one runway show per month from which she quickly expanded to professional photoshoots and runway modeling shows all over California. Since then Runway has become "my second street I walk regularly." The more time she began to contribute to modeling the more she began to realize how passionate she was about it. Now days she works as a model/coach full time. On a regular basis, she trains and works with new models who after only few weeks with her are able to move on to Professional Agencies. "It has been a climb for me but I am ready for whatever life throws at me and modeling is a live example of that. I am independent, motivated, and want only the best for all of my students."
What more could you ask in a mentor and Angel is there to take you the height of your dreams.

Stylist of the Month - Shay Galipeaux
by Arrvada"I love what I do and I do what I love." What Shay Galipeaux loves is sculpting hair with skill and a shiny pair of shears.
A graduate of Federico Beauty College, Shay discovered early in her education that she had a passion for cutting. A skilled colorist, Shay turned her attention on advancing her skill with her shears. She began seeking out advanced cutting classes both in Sacramento and San Francisco to learn the techniques that have made her such an asset to Image Provocateur.
With her advanced skills in cut, color and styling, Shay has been an asset on many Hair Shows, Bridal Shows and Runway Shows, with Image Provocateur as well as having worked Fashion Shows with Rowana and Takashi. She is always striving to make herself the best, and with this kind of drive, Shay Galipeaux will soon be.
When asked why she chose this path she simply said, "I couldn't ask for better career or a better group of girls than the ones I found at Image Provocateur."
Image Provocateur couldn't agree more.

Sun-kissed Summer Look?

by Arrvada
Summer is all about creating that healthy, flirty, feminine appearance. It’s the time to bring out the floral dresses, strapped sandals and expose your skin to the sun. Sun kissed skin is the ideal, but with golden tans comes the potential for damage. Over exposure, dehydration, improper care, all of these things can create skin that is dull, skin that appears aged. Skin conditions change with each season; therefore it is very important to update your skin care regime as well as the type of makeup you wear.
Choosing the right skin care is the first step to having radiant skin. To avoid dehydration from sun exposure and heat, follow these essential steps:
1. Cleanse with a hydrating cleanser, something that will work well with your skins own pH. I recommned Dermaquest Daily Enzyme Cleanser (For Dry to Normal Skin types) or DermaQuest Antibacterial Enzyme Cleanser (for Oily to Acneic Skin).
2. Use a manual exfoliant to stimulate your blood flow and purge your pores. This will reduce dullness in your skin, reintroduce much needed moisture and reduce blemishes. My recommendation? The Japanese Wash Cloth of course!
3. After this cleansing wait a few minutes and moisturize your skin, making sure to moisturize your whole face, especially under your eyes, continuing down your neck. For Dry/Normal Skin Types there is nothing better than DermaQuest's Advanced B-5 Serum. If your skin is oily I would strongly recommend the Dermaquest Rejuvaderm.
4. A daily application of a sunscreen should become routine before ever leaving the house. DermaQuest's Solar Moisturizer provides perfect coverage.
5. And that final touch for luminous, healthy skin begins on the inside. Drink water, it’s a simple step, but one of the most essential to maintaining a healthy body and healthy skin.
Proper choices for your skin care products can seem like a challenge, but some basic knowledge is all you need. Choose a cleanser that will fit with your own chemical make up, check ingredients avoiding products with alcohol in them as this will only dry your skin out further. The same applies for your moisturizer. A good moisturizer is one of the most valuable investments you can make. While there seem to be hundreds to choose from the choice isn’t that difficult. Choose something that will be light on your skin with maximum hydration. A light moisturizer for day will wear well under your makeup, making the application of your foundation more even as well. Also, if it is light and penetrates your skin it won’t cause your make up to run when the heat outside goes up. A good choice for better coverage and longer stay with hydration would be to get a tinted moisturizer, but not all tinted moisturizers will do. Again read your ingredients and avoid products with excessive amounts of Titanium Dioxide in them, as this cam clog your pores and lead to breakout. Most sunscreens and foundations to contain this ingredient, so be careful to choose one with a more minimal amount.
For your evening routine, choose a heavier moisturizer, something that will restore your skin from a long day beneath the sun, facing the heat and the daily wears of those nasty free-radicals. It should be thicker, deeper penetrating so that while you sleep it will refresh, rejuvenate and revive your skin, giving you that fresh and rested skin we all crave.
With the changing season comes a need for a change in your makeup as well as your skin care.
1. Colors change each season so be sure to pick a foundation that will match your new golden tones. A foundation that wears well in the heat, that is oil free and wears even when you sweat. VIP-CAT's Oil Free Foundation is my prime choice.
2. Followed by a translucent powder to set your makeup, even out the skin tone and keep your makeup from running. VIP-CAT's Powder foundation is an excellent choice.
3. And for sure fire makeup staying power covering with a fixing spray will keep you looking like a goddess all day.
4. Water proof mascara is always the right choice, it won’t run underneath your eyes, and it makes your eyes pop.
Choosing eye shadows, lip tones, skin tones can seem daunting, but with proper education, or a personal consultation with a trained cosmetic artist will guide you in the right direction.
At Image Provocateur in Roseville you will find Cosmetic Artists, Fashion consultants, Hairstylists, nail technicians and skincare specialists that will guide you to a sexy new you, ready for the sunny days of summer and all seasons beyond.

May's Stylist of the Month - Elya Preston
A native of Oregon, Elya moved to California after graduating High School and soon found herself working as a dental assistant in Ukiah, CA. Though the job was rewarding with potential at becoming a career she found she "Hated it! Way to blah for me." She liked the interaction with clients that she had but it didn't fulfill her artistic needs. "I've always loved meeting and getting to know new people. So I thought, why not try Beauty School."Elya soon found herself enrolled at Ukiah Beauty School. And she quickly "fell in LOVE with Hair!" She found it fulfilled her need to artistically create as well as allowing her to meet and develop new friendships every day.
"I feel so lucky going to work every day and actually loving and wanting to be there. This is my calling and I will do it 'til I die!"
Elya is certainly one of our Rock Stars here at Image Provocateur and we couldn't be happier that she found Dental Assisting so 'blah'!
