Stylist of the Month - Debye Martin
Here's a little bit about myself:When I was 12 I taught myself to sew. From there it blossomed into a passion for fashion and beauty, which soon led me into Cosmetology. In high school my fellow classmates decided I needed a makeup lesson. This turned out to be a launching into the beauty industry.
I began modeling with a local agency in Denver, Colorado. There I learned more from some European pros that came to instruct us into the proper makeup applications. In the early 90's I decided to futher my career in the Cosmetology industry.
First, I completed my licensing as a manicurist. I had a small business in downtown Sacramento. This had opened a whole new world to me. But, I wanted more so continued my education and got my license in Cosmetology. I was never one to be satisfied and soon found myself pushing it to the next level and became an Cosmotology Instructor at a local Beauty Academy. Being a instructor and giving back to the industry I love has been so rewarding.
I worked at a local salon in the Carmichael area where I learned from some of the best in the industry. There is where I learned more about taking the proper care of your skin. As a baby boomer I have learned the importance of taking care of your skin. This is one of the areas I plan to expand here at Image Provocateur. I've also done many weddings as a event planner and makeup artist.
In the business world I have been a Vice President for a printing direct mail house in Reno area. The corporate world has some satisfaction. But, this industry has brought me more joy and fulfillment. So, being at Image Provocateur & VIP-Cat Academy is like being home. The joy I receive from helping others is a dream come true.
My motto is: " here at Image Provocateur glamor is our business. So let us take care of all your beauty needs. Enjoy the ultimate experience that will unleash the Vixen which lives within all of us".....
Debye is an integral part of the Image Provocateur Team, she is a Lead Bridal Makeup & Hair Specialist, as well as on-sight instructor.

Pin-Up & Paint Photography Shoot out!
On Sunday May 30, 2010 downtown Roseville came alive with Models, Makeup & Mayhem!20 Models & 7 Photographers descended upon Image Provocateur for a fast paced day of high fashion art.
The Shoot-Out was organized by Raquel Siders of Image Provocateur & VIP-CAT Makeup Academy. Models & Makeup artists were provided by VIP-CAT Makeup Academy, many of which were graduates of the Makeup Academy.
Raquel Siders visualized the concept and through her efforts arranged a spectacular environment for the photographers and models. Using Graduates of VIP-CAT Makeup Academy, all of which are now working Professionally in the Makeup Industry, Raquel created a glamorous, high fashion pin-up look on all the models.
R
aquel also gathered and organized the models, makeup & hair teams to provide the photographers with a fabulous environment in which to capture the essence of Pin-up glam. The Salon, Image Provocateur was the back drop and in some ways the driving inspiration for the shoot. Choosing a high fashion, rocker edge, with
classic pin-up glamor and the colorful body art of tattoos, Raquel was able to create a perfect environment for some amazing art. This shoot was by Invite Only, so only a few select photographers got the chance to join this Rockin' Shoot-Out!
Our Next Shoot-Out is going to be scheduled for Mid August. If you thought The Pin-Up & Paint Shoot-Out was awesome, you ain't seen nothin' yet! Set in a gothic cemetary, this dark wedding themed shoot will combine gothic, horror and high fashion glam elements.
We haven't cast our models or photographers yet, so don't wait, you know you want to be part of it!If you want to model or shoot it, email Raquel at imageprov@yahoo.com

Stylist of the Month - Jenifer Haupt
by ArrvadaFashion design has always been Jenifer Haupt's obsession. From high school she entered the fashion industry on the retail side and quickly found that her passion was in the creation of art and fashion and not simply the distribution. Over eight years ago she channeled her love for design and retail savvy into a successful jewelry design business.
Her handcrafted pieces of jewelry are made with genuine Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. Each one is unique, rarely duplicated and Jenifer made a very successful name for herself. Jenifer has also expanded her jewelry business which now includes one of a kind hair accessories and wedding hair pieces. All available at Image Provocateur.
However, never one to stay sedentary Jenifer sought to achieve her license as a cosmetologist to further broaden her creative outlets. Her keen eye for glamour and style has made her one of the top nail art designers in the area. Her signature stiletto nails, all the rage now in Europe, and her Rock Star toes, set her apart from any other nail technician.
In 2007 she became a key member of the Image Provocateur & VIP-CAT Cosmetics team, becoming one of our top Makeup Artists and bringing to Image Provocateur all her extensive talents.
Jenifer became a teacher of VIP-CAT Academy in 2009 she also is one of our lead makeup artists at Image Provocateur bringing her extensive talents to her brides and clients. Jenifer is an amazing artist, bringing the beauty out of every bride.
She is a talented and beautiful addition to the Image Provocateur Team.

Hair & Makeup by VIP-CAT Makeup Academy

FAB Shows is a result of founder Jessica Stout's passion for animal rescue and advocacy, and her love of all things fashion. A self-proclaimed clothing hoarder that is on the verge of being an animal hoarder (we kid), Jessica decided to bring her two loves together to see what would come of it.
What came was something awesome that caught-on like wildfire. After the success of her first show, Pits and Fash, the "FAB Show" name was created and the rest will go down in history.

Proceeds Raised From this Event Were Donated to the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary to help build Bigger and Better Exhibits for the Animals they house.
The Sacramento Examiner covered this wonderful event in am article and slide show!:

Get Fixed! - Z Chiropractic
by ArrvadaI, like most others enter a chiropractor's office knowing it is something that needs to be done to relieve pain. But it's not something I usually look forward to. After my first visit to Dr. Zawada of Z Chiropractic, I've had to reevaluate what I thought I knew.
I first encountered Dr. Z during the big MOVE of August. Raquel had been a painting and moving fiend and in the process had severely strained her Hip Flexor Muscles. Let's just say that is not a pleasant injury. Poor Raquel could barely stand straight. A friend of hers referred her to Dr. Z and within a few short visits Raquel was back to her usual, energetic self.
I didn't think much about it, I was impressed by how fast she was fixed and how highly she spoke of Dr. Z. But it didn't really hit close to home until I started dealing with severe back pain. I finally decided to stop masking the issue with Ibuprofen and get a professional opinion. That's what had me walking through the door of Z Chiropractic last month.
As I lay cringing on the table, waiting for the pain, something strange happened. The Doctor talked to me! That's right you heard me. He actually asked questions and listened, really listened to my answers. Then when he did begin with the adjustments he was very careful to explain what he was doing and why.
And that is how Dr. Z works. His philosophy, his style of practice is certainly unique for any professional. It is a style that has developed over the last 13 years. With a strong history of Sports related medicine, having worked closely with the Seattle SeaHawks and the Sacramento Sirens, his approach to chiropractic care is different then those of his contemporaries. His goal is to FIX the problem and help you maintain a healthy, functional existence. As he told me, "The best person is the one who can fix you in the quickest period of time possible and let you go. You should never have to be on an ongoing maintenance care regimen. You should be fixed and done."
In a culture used to a quick fix, to a Band-Aid to cover the pain or pills to mask it, it is amazing to find a doctor who actually wants to FIX the problem. But that is exactly how Dr. Z works. It's not just a simple fix though, Dr. Z actually cares about his clients. To show you just how much this is true, within twenty minutes of leaving his office I got a text from him asking how I was doing. How many doctors would do that?
So you've got something that aches, go get it FIXED!

Halloween
By ArrvadaHalloween is a day that gets mixed reviews. Its a day when some believe the spirits roam the earth, a day for fun and frolic and for some fear. Whatever your personal belief there is definitely something about this one day of the year that intrigues and inspires the world.
Its true that this day was once celebrated in ancient times, a pagan holiday filled with mystery and fire. A day that the early Christians feared for its power and the darkness that seemed so close at hand during this time of year when the sun begins to wane. But today, even so many years later, this holiday has survived, taking on a new and glamourous face, that barely hides its ancient origins. What is it about Halloween that facinates and thrills the world? That thrills young and old alike? Why do we like Halloween? Because we get to reinvent ourselves, reimagine who we are, unleash our alter ego and revisit our childhood. We get to be whomever we want to be.
So light the fires, break out the paint and be whomever you want to be this year. For one day, you are free to be...you.
